I think that librarians help people find information and organize the library and the books. I also think that librarians know the system of the library and are able to find a book easily and when someone needs help with a book or don’t know which book to get, the librarian can make suggestions and help summarize the book. They could even help find the book most appropriate for the research being done. I think it would be really cool if librarians began holding a time to help students and other people study. This would help me especially when I need help researching because I don’t always know where I should start when researching. It would be great if I was able to have help from an expert. I think that the library of the future is going to have reading areas where you could take the book and someone could read to you. I also think that when you walk into the library you can just say the book you need and it will come to you like one of the vending machines.

ReplyDeleteI think you are spot on about librarians and information. If farmers cultivate and harvest produce, librarians cultivate and harvest information! I thought your suggestions for what librarians could do were compelling although Im not quite sure if you are confusing studying and research. Studying is something you can do alone or in a group but all that librarians can do is first, make sure you have a quiet place to study and second, perhaps suggest strategies to study more effectively. If you want help in researching, that's a large part of most librarians do! Feel free to always seek help from any library staff here at the Health Sciences Library for any type of research. Librarians are specially trained to find information fast and to be able to teach you how as well. I like your idea of a future library. Sort of like a kiosk at the mall or similar to one of those Redbox movie centers. How fun!
